Recent Empties

So I thought I would start doing monthly "empties" posts on my blog as it will give me a chance to talk about some less natural products as I finish them off (for the meantime anyway!). I'm trying my best to use up my non-natural products before switching them out gradually to more natural alternatives so not to be too wasteful and also so I don't have to spend a fortune buying a whole new collection of beauty products in one go - as tempting as that is!
Making their way to the bin this month:

I mentioned this shampoo in my review of the Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo last month and it's definitely one of those ridiculously over-hyped, over-priced products that was really disappointing! Obviously I bought this before I decided to "go green" - to be honest I really regret buying it as it has caused my hair and scalp a lot of issues. I actually really liked this shampoo at first but after a few washes my hair started feeling weighed down and more oily. It also ended up irritating my scalp and giving me lots of ever so attractive dandruff and a lovely itchy head! By this point most of the bottle was used up anyway and needless to say I stopped using it. This has just been sat in my bathroom almost empty and untouched for the past month or so and I'm finally just getting around to throwing it out now!

There's a tiny bit of this left but it will be gone soon enough so I thought I would include it in this empties post! I like to paint my nails a lot so obviously I need to have nail polish remover at hand for when I need to take it off (this one smells awful just like all the others!). Until recently I was completely oblivious to the fact that a natural nail polish remover existed, so this Cutex product won't be repurchased as it has been replaced with a better (natural) alternative which I will post about soon! Nivea Pearl & Beauty Roll-on Deodorant 25ml travel size (50ml RRP £2.10)
This was given to me as part of a gift set at Christmas. I wasn't too crazy about it as the scent was a bit strong for my liking. I'm now using a crystal deodorant which I like much better so I'm glad I can finally get rid of this one.

If you're not bothered about natural products then this is a decent enough toothpaste, but it didn't really do much for my sensitivity personally. I did mention in my mid-month haul that I've bought a new natural, fluoride free toothpaste (from Green People) to replace this one so hopefully I'll like it!

I've had this for probably around 6 months and it's pretty much all dried up now. I did like this mascara as it did a pretty good job of volumising, but the extreme black was too dark for me. I've got a few natural mascaras that I'm trying out now instead.

That's it for my empties this month. I think this might have been the first time I've properly talked about more 'mainstream' products on this blog! At some point in the future I'm sure my empties posts will end up containing all natural products, but for now I'm afraid they're likely to be mostly non-natural. If you've done an empties post this month I'd love to have a read so feel free to leave a link in the comments :)

  2. Ah!!! Why is it the end of June ALREADY?! Lovely empties post....I love Empties posts haha.
That's definitely disappointing about the MoroccanOil Shampoo. I was really looking forward to trying out that brand....but maybe it's not worth the hype.

  5. I didn't know that natural nail polish remover existed either, looking forward to hearing about it. I've never tried any of the Rimmel mascaras so definitely don't think I will bother now.

  8. Does the nail varnish remover have quite a strong chemical smell even though it's acetone-free? I'm yet to find one that doesn't leave my house smelling like a chemical explosion haha xxx
