I've only just got around to trying out the Ciaté Caviar manicure set that came with last month's Marie Claire magazine. I put the Caviar Pearls only on my ring finger as I thought having them on all of the nails might get a bit annoying!
I really like the colour of Ciaté's Cookies and Cream, but I'm not a huge fan of the consistency. I applied 3 coats to get it properly opaque and close up the brush strokes can be seen on the nails which really bugs me! Maybe the brush on the full sized pot is better though? (Let me know if it is!)
The Shooting Star Caviar Pearls were a bit of a pain to be honest. You have to pour the beads over the nail whilst the polish is still wet, put a tray underneath to catch the excess and firmly push the beads into the nails to set them. Then comes the mission of getting the excess beads back into the bottle - not an easy task when you're using a makeshift funnel made of rolled up paper! The full kit does come with a funnel though so I imagine that would make it easier.
Once they're all back in the bottle (and on the floor...) the instructions say to put a topcoat on the tips of the nails to keep them in place. I decided to put topcoat all over just to try and make them stay in place a bit more. The beads around the sides of the nail did fall off within about an hour, but other than that the rest has actually stayed in place quite well for the past 24 hours, although I'm not sure how much longer it will last!
I do love the look of the Caviar manicure despite the slightly annoying application, so I think it's safe to say I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it at the moment.
(Update: They lasted a week without much change in appearance! Taking them off was a bit of a pain though!)
Have you ever tried the Caviar nail look?
