When Indie Lee first launched in the UK back in October I already knew there was a few products in particular I wanted to try. High up on the list was the Calendula Eye Balm, so when abeautifulworld had a 20% discount offer for the launch I couldn’t resist purchasing it. At that point I already totally loved Indie Lee’s Squalane Facial Oil (reviewed here) so I had high hopes for the eye balm too!
The product description states that it’s “a multi-tasking miracle balm” to “dramatically diminish dark circles” so I’m sure you can gather why I wanted to try it! Like the rest of the Indie Lee product range, this eye balm has an impressive all-natural ingredients list, containing only Calendula Oil, Beeswax, Mango Seed Butter, Lavender Oil, Squalane (olive derived), Avocado Oil and Vitamin E.
With such rich ingredients I guess it’s not surprising for me to say how moisturising this stuff is! If your eye area needs hydration it would be worth checking out this product for that reason alone, even if dark circles aren’t a concern for you! As it’s so hydrating, I personally find it too much to use under makeup so I stick to using it as a nighttime treatment.
Considering the eye balm comes packaged in a tiny little glass jar, you might think I would have used it all up by now, but I’ve actually only made a relatively small dent over the course of 3 months – just goes to show a little goes a long way! To use you just take a grain-sized amount of product scooped out with a little spatula or your ring finger, let it warm slightly and gently dab around the eye area.
I thought it would be interesting to see in photos if there was a noticeable difference after using the eye balm daily for 3 months, so I took before and after photos with the same camera and even tried to take it in the same place and at the same time of day too! Apologies for the creepy closeup, but I figured it would be the best way to actually show the difference!
You can see in the before photo that I was blessed with some lovely dark purple under eyes! I’m not sure how well it translates on screen as the after photo is a little blurry, but in person I can definitely say that the discolouration around my eyes has really evened out and the darkest areas have lightened quite noticeably. I would still say I have pretty bad circles some days and they can still be difficult to cover up, but they’re nowhere near as bad as they were three months ago!
It took around 3 weeks of daily evening use for me to notice a difference with the darkest areas starting to brighten, then another 6 weeks or more to reach the appearance shown in the “after” photo which was taken today. Maybe the results would be even quicker if it was applied twice a day! I fully intend to keep on using this eye balm and hope to see even more improvement! I think anyone with dark circles would benefit from this wonderful product and hopefully you can tell from my before and after photos that it really does work!
The Indie Lee products I’ve tried so far have really impressed me so I definitely want to try more from the brand in future – the Blemish Lotion and Brightening Cleanser are on my list to try next! Indie Lee’s products are available from indielee.com and several other retailers in the US (see here for full list of store locations). In the UK, the Calendula Eye Balm is available for £26.00 exclusively at abeauifulworld.
