RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up Review

When it comes to natural and organic makeup RMS Beauty are undoubtedly one of the first brands that come to mind. Loved by natural beauty fans and "mainstream" beauty lovers alike, RMS Beauty products have developed a cult favourite status within the world of cosmetics. The success of RMS Beauty isn't surprising considering the range has been developed by makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift using only the highest quality natural and organic ingredients.

The first product I decided to try from the RMS product range is the "Un" Cover-Up - one of their most talked about products! It's primarily a concealer but it can also be used as a light foundation. It's currently available in 5 shades ranging from snow white pale #00 (e.g. Nicole Kidman) to darker tan #44 (e.g. Halle Berry). I use the shade #11 for light skin and although it has a slightly yellow undertone, it does somehow adapt to my more neutral skin tone and blends really well. I swatched it heavily below so you can see the subtle yellow tone.

I find it best to apply this product with my fingers as the heat really helps the concealer to blend into the skin seamlessly. As it contains several oils, you don't have to use moisturiser beforehand if you have normal or oily skin. If you have dry patches though I would definitely recommend moisturising before applying as it can cling to and accentuate these areas.

I would say it offers moderate coverage but still allows your skin to shine through. It covers redness and blemishes well and I can even get away with using this as an under-eye concealer occasionally on days when the dark circles under my eyes aren't so bad. It does have a tendency to settle and crease around my eyes though so setting it with a powder is a must! Once it's set it lasts around 8 hours for me which personally I find really impressive considering it's an all natural product. Plus you can always re-apply later on in the day if need be!

Similarly to a lot of high quality natural products, the price tag is a little steep at £28.00 although cheaper to buy in the US (approx. £21.00). It's widely available to purchase online from Cult Beauty, LoveLula and Spirit Beauty Lounge to name a few. I was actually a bit shocked by how tiny the glass pot is when I first got it as not many of the reviews I read before had mentioned it. It only contains 5.67g of product but it will last a long time as you don't need to use much when you apply. It's safe to say I love this product (despite the price tag!) and I'm definitely looking forward to trying more from RMS Beauty in the future!

(UPDATE: I've since stopped using this product unfortunately as I found it was causing me to get more milia around my eyes with frequent use!)

Have you tried any RMS Beauty products? What would you recommend I should try next?

    1. Thanks Liz! I actually ordered samples of shades 11 and 22 from Spirit Beauty Lounge to figure out which shade was best for me before committing to the full size! It's definitely worth getting hold of samples if you can :) x

  6. I love RMS un cover up. I also wear the shade 11. Some days it is the only "foundation" I wear. Great for dry skin.

    1. Glad you love it too! I rarely wear it as an all over foundation as it can look slightly too yellow on me. Definitely useful for helping dry skin with all the oils it contains :) x

  8. I've been wanting to try this product FOREVER!!! I may finally order it. I just tried Everyday Minerals new cover sticks and they just didn't work for me at all. Just kinda slid around on my face. Would you say the coverage is buildable? And is the consistency more oily? I'm kind of concerned about that now that the sticks didn't work for me!

    1. Hi Christy, I would definitely say the coverage is buildable! You only need to use the smallest amount but can use more if you want better coverage. It does have a relatively oily consistency but it blends into the skin really well and can be set in place with a powder if you're worried about it sliding around :) x

  9. Great reviews...!! still worried that the finish is not matte enough (despite other bloggers telling that it is good:-))!. What to you think? any shine of not?

    1. I wouldn't say it's a completely matte finish, but it's definitely not shiny for me personally! I think it can vary depending on skin type, but you can always use powder over the top to make it totally matte :) x

  10. I bought it recently. I think it's great. As good as other not-so-clean brands. It's worth the price but it'd be nice if it was cheaper.

  11. I WILL CRY IF I DON'T FIND THIS IN NEW YORK! It is the one thing on my wishlist that I am definitely going to be so upset if I don't find! I think I'll be a shade 11 too. Great review Ria, I was actually just reading Ana's review from last year and then saw your post on BlogLovin! xx
