The 4 Product Face - Everyday Makeup Essentials

It was this time last year that, after a lot of trial and error, I finally found a selection of natural makeup products I was happy with - if you've been a reader for a long time you might remember seeing my original everyday makeup essentials. Since then I've changed things up a little so I thought it would be a good time to share an update on the makeup products I reach for on a daily basis (I say daily... I usually only wear makeup about 3 times a week)! These are quite possibly my favourite makeup items yet, so hopefully this will give you a few ideas if you're still searching for those high performance "green" makeup products!

My all-time favourite HG concealer has to be Christopher Drummond's Duo-Phase Hydrating Concealer (full review here). I have the shade "Light" and always use this to conceal under my eyes as it gives such good coverage. If dark circles aren't much of an issue for you and you only need light coverage then you might find this a bit too much, but for me it's perfect and one of the few products that give me enough coverage with only minimal creasing and without looking cakey.

For foundation, I'm still absolutely loving Inika's Mineral Foundation in the shade Unity (full review here). I'm on my second jar of this now and couldn't be happier with it! Just a light dusting evens out skin tone without looking like you're even wearing any makeup, and it can also be built up in light layers for extra coverage. As much as I love this, I still miss having a liquid foundation in my stash sometimes so I'm on a mission to find a good natural/organic liquid base sometime this year!

Eye makeup is probably my favourite type of makeup and I just don't feel put together without some eyeliner and mascara! I used to only wear black eyeliner, but I realised it can be a bit too dramatic against my light skin tone for daily wear so I usually reserve the black for evening makeup and occasions. I love using dark grey eyeliner instead as it's slightly less harsh but still gives that lined and defined look. One of my favourites is the Green People Pencil "City Grey" Eyeliner as it has such a smooth formula, plus it doesn't irritate my eyes at all and lasts really well throughout the day.

Mascara finishes off my daily look to give some definition to my barely-there lashes. Every time I need to replace a mascara, I can't help going for something new I haven't tried before! After a string of mascaras that only gave a subtle effect, I decided to go for the Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mascara. I have the Supernova Black shade which is super pigmented and can be built up to full on bold lashes if you like the more dramatic look! I keep to one or two coats for daytime which gives defined lashes with added volume. Look out for a full review with swatches in the next few weeks!

Do you use any of these products? What are your daily makeup essentials?

  1. I really want that concealer since I read about it on your blog (: ...I really enjoy the Lily Lolo BB Cream as it covers quite well like a liquid foundation. Other than that I quite like the BareMinerals Bareskin foundation but the finish is very (!) dewy. You could also try to mix the amount of you inika foundation you would wear with one or two drops of oil to get a liquid foundation. Works perfectly (: ...Best regards.

  3. Great post Ria! I've been on the look for a natural concealer + foundation option for a while now. I want to give a few things a try before I settle on one. The Christopher Drummond sounds like a good one to try! I also liked the Jane Iredale highlighting concealer. xo

  4. I've never tried any of these products! But the concealer and eyeliner sound especially lovely. Lately, I've been loving just applying a tinted moisturizer, a swipe of mascara, and a pretty lip color. Rather minimalistic, but all you need to look polished.
